The Republican Party is supposed to look out for the interests of the American employers and manufacturers (if there are any left). So why is their hatred for our elected President blinding them to the fact that their absolute objection to the health care bill is expensive and against the interests of what is best for our country.
If our private sector is to be able to compete in the global economy it has to shift the cost of health insurance to the government, as most industrial countries do. That will reduce the cost of our products (about three thousand dollars per car, for example), and restore more Americans to the working roles.
This will reduce the expense of unemployment benefits and increase the flow of taxes, thus reducing our budget deficit. It is a win-win situation for the country as a whole, though maybe not for the Connecticut insurance companies and their representative in the Senate: Joseph I. Lieberman.
